Q: If you could play Mahjong with any 3 people, who would be sitting at your table with you?
Emily: My three daughters, Eloise, Callie and Mills! Teaching mahjong to the next generation is SOO fun and rewarding! And it gives me a full table of players (at home)!
Kathryn: My grandmother Dottie, she was a killer bridge player and I can only imagine how competitive she would have been at mahjong. Kate Middleton, something just makes me think she’d have been really fun to chat with over mahjong, and also a great competitor. Finally, Margot Robbie as Barbie. They need a mahjong Barbie!
Q: What’s your go-to line on the 2023 card?
Emily: Consecutive Runs, line 2: my brain likes to see things in order (mom of four kids here!)
Kathryn: I’ve really liked the first line of any like numbers. But I also love lines 1-3 of even numbers.
Q: Why do you love teaching Mahjong?
Emily: Mahjong is a thinking game (not a drinking game), and brings so many people together. It’s good for your mind, body and soul- and we love making friends along the way!
Kathryn: Teaching mahjong brings me joy because we get to watch women cheering for each other as they learn. I love the excitement and glow of pride when someone yells “Mahjong!” for the first time.
