CLASSIC CRAFTSMANSHIP, NAUTICAL CHARM & A TIMELESS POINT OF VIEW
Smith was inspired by the classic Gentlemen’s Racer boats of the 1920s and 1930s—an era of beautifully crafted wooden boats, coastal cruising, and effortless sophistication. It was also around this same period that American mahjong was growing in popularity, creating a natural meeting point between two timeless traditions.
Rich walnut-inspired backs recall the warmth of vintage wooden boats, while crisp white faces and layered blues bring in the cool tones of open water. Look closer, and Smith reveals even more—from wave-inspired Winds and dragons cradling pearls to blooming Flowers and celebratory masks. The result is classic, tailored, and unmistakably nautical, with thoughtful details that make Smith feel just as timeless as the era that inspired it.
CRAFTED TO STAND APART
Smith makes a statement before you even turn over a tile. The walnut-inspired backs take their cue from the polished wood and craftsmanship of vintage Gentlemen’s Racers. Paired with cool blue layers and crisp white faces, they give the collection warmth, depth, and a distinctly nautical point of view.
It is a detail that makes Smith feel considered from every angle—classic, substantial, and made to be noticed.
THE DRAGON & THE PEARL
Smith’s Dragons cradle a luminous pearl, bringing together two powerful symbols in one intricate design.
Across Asian traditions, dragons are associated with strength, wisdom, protection, and good fortune. The pearl adds another layer of meaning, traditionally connected with wisdom and prosperity.
Together, the Dragon & Pearl give Smith one of its most meaningful details—a striking expression of strength, wisdom, and good fortune.
MAKING WAVES
Even Smith’s Winds carry the collection’s distinctive point of view. Flowing wave-inspired illustrations bring movement to the North, East, West, and South tiles, softening the tailored palette with an organic detail inspired by the water.
The result feels both graphic and graceful—a small design moment that reveals itself as you play.
A MASKED CELEBRATION
Smith’s Joker takes a more playful turn with an ornate mask, a nod to celebration and mystery.
Surrounded by scrolling decorative details, the mask brings a sense of occasion to the collection—a reminder that even Smith’s most sophisticated moments leave room for a little fun.
TRADITION IN BLOOM
The Flower tiles bring softness to Smith’s more structured elements, with richly illustrated blooms in shades of blue and burgundy. Their botanical details complement the collection’s classic, collected personality and add another layer of artistry to the table.
THE COLOR STORY
Smith’s palette brings its nautical inspiration to life. Warm walnut-inspired backs evoke the rich woodgrain of vintage boats, while layers of deep and soft blue call to mind open water and classic coastal style. Crisp white faces allow the detailed artwork to take center stage, with touches of burgundy, green, and turquoise adding dimension throughout the collection.
Together, the palette feels sophisticated without being formal—the effortless elegance of a vintage gentleman at the helm.
